Call 708-460-6000 today to get your new pet started with routine wellness exams.

It’s essential to keep up with your pet’s healthcare throughout their life. Peoples’ healthcare needs change as they get older, and so do your pets’. Dogs and cats can be considered seniors around seven years old, and their nutritional, exercise, and routine care needs often change as they age.

Regularly taking your older pet in for check-ups is a great way to monitor their overall health and catch any early signs of disease. Blood work and other diagnostic testing can also help evaluate your pet’s health. We use this information to monitor your pet’s medications and medical conditions and determine whether we need to adjust our recommendations.

Advances in veterinary medicine have helped pets live longer than ever, and our staff wants to be with them as they age. We want to partner with you to set your senior pet up for the healthiest life possible. Call our clinic at 708-460-6000 to schedule your senior pet’s appointment.

Are you concerned about your dog or cat picking up a parasite? Whether you have an outdoor cat, you walk your dog in an area where ticks are prevalent, or you have a 100% indoor animal, it’s essential to think about parasite prevention. You may not always be able to tell if your pet has parasites – they can be tiny, or an infected pet can show little to no symptoms. Microchipping

Thousands of pets go missing every year and many of them don’t make it back home. This could be due to many factors, including being injured or being picked up by animal control or a good Samaritan but not having proper identification. If your pet is mainly an indoor pet, there is a good chance they don’t wear collars or tags in the home. Even if your pet has a collar and tags, they can become unreadable with age, or fall off after being damaged.

In these situations, the best form of pet identification is microchipping. Microchip implantation is a very quick and safe procedure which involves:

  • A small microchip (the size of a grain of rice) is inserted under your pet’s skin, in between their shoulder blades.
  • The pet owner is given a registration form to complete, which puts your pet on a national pet recovery database.
  • If someone finds your lost pet, you will be contacted when the microchip is scanned.

Every pet parent hopes that their pet will never go missing, but in the case of the unthinkable happening, a microchip registered to your name helps ensure that your pet makes it back home safely. If you’re interested in microchipping your pet, call our clinic at 708-460-6000.
